about

Archeologists of the good-time circuit have unearthed evidence of life elevated beyond normal human capacity to “party down”. Spurred to investigate by reports of a being that ruthlessly crashes parties, get-togethers, reunions, receptions and other organized celebrations with shameless abandon, the legend suggests that this “man” seems to materialize right when the event is in full swing. His mere presence channels all the energy in the room, serving to send the whole melee right over the top. Known as Gene Defcon, this mythological entity has left behind a document, an audio diary discovered buried under spilled beer, empty cups, shriveled streamers and confetti. Come Party With Me 2000 is proof of another universe locked in perpetual party mode and lorded over by a divinely wild jester.
Stumbling over a curious mélange of sounds and styles, Gene Defcon’s music mirrors a creative mind that’s been utterly perverted by the intoxicating properties of pure comedy and unadulterated good times. But what a prolific mind it is! Forty-five songs run the gamut of silliness via a confounding journey through 1970’s glam and 1980’s new wave. Blanketed warmly by an unabashed 1990’s lo-fi aesthetic, Gene Defcon’s singular vision arrives just in time for year 2000 hysteria. Drum machines, guitars, bass and stunted vocals color tales about sex, drugs, hot tubs, cosmic food and emphatic partying. Gene Defcon is the missing link between fellow maniac Bobby Conn and Top 40 icon Bobby Brown, a bizarre rope-skipping competition between Olivia Tremor Control, Neil Hamburger, and Captain Kangaroo. But what’s this? Our psychedelic hero is actually A BAND!!! Gene Defcon is the MC, assisted by disciples Jimi St. Bottoms, Sabrina, Nick Nax, Coco Bozo and Francoise of such punk acts as Tight Bro’s From Way Back When, Bikini Kill, Mocket, Bangs, Frumpies and Prima Donnas. Lounges across America, beware!
Come Party With Me 2000 was born as a cassette release in an edition of 50 and evolved into a CDR run of about 150. The time is nigh to spread the singular gospel of a twisted enigmatic figure, Eugene Gordon Defcon, beyond obscurity into absolute celebrity. Put on your boogie shoes, the messiah has come!
